Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions set out the terms of participation in the GRADUATE WELCOME EVENT LUCKY DOOR PRIZE competition (the “Competition”).  
  1. The promoter of the Competition is The Institution of Engineers Australia trading as Engineers Australia (“Engineers Australia”) (ABN 63 020 415 510), Engineering House, 11 National Circuit, Barton, ACT, Australia, Telephone No:  1300 653 113.
  2. The Competition is a competition in which an attendee of Engineers Australia’s Graduate Welcome Events (held in February 2023) has the chance to win an electronic voucher worth $200 AUD To enter the promotion, an entrant needs to register for a Graduate Welcome Event, hosted by Engineers Australia. The Promoter is not responsible for receipt of incorrect, inaccurate, or incomplete information caused by an entrant or occurring during transmission. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction. 
  3. Entry to the Competition is free and  open to registrants of the Graduate Welcome Events hosted by Engineers Australia who are Australian residents and who meet the criteria on the promotion material. An entrant must be an individual. Organisations (including bodies corporate) are ineligible to enter. Employees of Engineers Australia, their immediate family members, employees of any company associated with Engineers Australia, any person associated with the Competition, and any individual associated with the provision of the prize(s), are not eligible to enter. 
  4. Members of Engineers Australia who register a guest who is not a member of Engineers Australia receive one extra entry into the draw per non-member guest.
  5. Each entry must be entered in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. By entering the Competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Engineers Australia may in its discretion refuse to award any prize to any entrant who fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions. All relevant instructions (if any) on the Engineers Australia website (www.engineersaustralia.org.au) form part of these Terms and Conditions.
  6. If an entrant’s contact details change during the Competition Period, it is the entrant's responsibility to notify Engineers Australia. A request to modify any entry information should be directed to Engineers Australia. Engineers Australia does not guarantee that it will approve all requests to modify. 
  7. The Competition opens at 09.00am AEST time on 6 February 2023 and closes at 11.59pm AEST time on 22 February 2023 (“Competition Period”).  Any entry received after the expiry of the Competition Period will be deemed invalid. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost, delayed or misdirected entries.
  8. To enter the Competition, you must: 
    1. Register for at least one Engineers Australia Graduate Welcome Event, held in any of the nine locations across Australia. 
  9. The total prize pool value is $200 AUD.  There is one prize to be won per event. The Prize is:

  1. Each prize must be taken as is and no compensation will be payable if a winner is unable to use the prize as stated. Prizes, or any unused portion of a prize, are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. It is a condition of accepting a prize that the winner accept the conditions of use of that prize.
  2. If a prize (or part of the prize) is unavailable, Engineers Australia, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize (or that part of the prize) with a prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority.
  3. Winners will be drawn at random using a dedicated software application. The draw(s) will take place at the below times and dates at the corresponding addresses. Results of the random prize draw are final and will be binding on each person who enters the Competition and no correspondence will be entered into.

  1. Entrants must be present at the prize draw to win. If the winner is not present at the time of the draw, another winner will be randomly selected immediately after the initial draw until a winner who is present at the event is selected. 
  2. Prize winners will be notified in person at the event, and will also be notified by 11.59pm AEDT up to five business days after the draw by email. Engineers Australia takes no responsibility where it is unable to contact prize winners who have not provided correct or complete contact details.  
  3. Prizes will be provided to Prize winners via email up to five business days after the event date. Prize winners’ names will be published on this webpage five business days after the draw. 
  4. By entering into the Competition, entrants consent to Engineers Australia using their personal details they provide in connection with the Competition for purposes of their membership of Engineers Australia. and facilitating the conduct of the Competition and the award of any prizes.  Entrants’ personal information provided in connection with the Competition will be handled in accordance with the Engineers Australia Privacy Policy available on the Engineers Australia website www.engineersaustralia.org.au. 
  5. If there is any event that prevents or hinders Engineers Australia’s conduct of the Competition or Engineers Australia’s ability to deliver the prize/s to the prize winner/s of the Competition, including but not limited to vandalism, natural disasters, acts of God, any event that is considered an epidemic, pandemic, quarantine or any other event that is a public health risk as defined by the International Health Regulations published by the World Health Organization, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism and any act or declaration of the government made in respect of the above, or if the winner/s has not claimed the prize/s within [3] months of the prize being drawn, Engineers Australia may, in its discretion, cancel the Competition and recommence it at another time under the same conditions, or randomly select another winner. 
  6. In the event that Engineers Australia decides to randomly select another winner in accordance with clause 16, Engineers Australia will redraw the winner at 11am on 23 March 2023 at Engineering House, 11 National Circuit, Barton ACT 2600. The redraw prize winner/s will be notified by AEST 11am on 30 March 2023 by email, and prizes will be delivered to the redraw prize winner/s in accordance with clause 13. If a prize is no longer capable of being redeemed, the redraw prize winner/s will receive a prize, as determined by Engineers Australia, of equivalent value (as if the original prize had been awarded to that person, less any administrative expenses incurred by Engineers Australia).
  7. Engineers Australia is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, or for any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this Competition, or for any technical error that may occur in the course of the administration of this Competition. Engineers Australia assumes no responsibility for, any late, lost, delayed, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, corrupted, illegible or misdirected entries, claims or correspondence whether due to omission, error, alteration, tampering, deletion, defect, theft, destruction, delay in operation or transmission, disruption to any communication network or medium, or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries, or otherwise including those entries not received by the Promoter for any reason. Engineers Australia is not liable for any consequences of user error including (without limitation) costs incurred. 
  8. To the greatest extent permitted by law, Engineers Australia excludes all warranties, representations or guarantees (Warranties) regarding this Competition and any prizes, including any Warranties which may have been made in the course of advertising or promoting this Competition. The conduct of this Competition or the supply of prizes may involve third parties, and this Competition makes no Warranties and disclaims all liability in connection with any such third parties, their acts or omissions. By entering this Competition, an entrant releases and indemnifies Engineers Australia and its related bodies corporate (including the officers, employees and agents of each) from and against all actions, penalties, liabilities, claims or demands the entrant may have against Engineers Australia or that Engineers Australia may incur for any loss or damage which is or may be suffered or sustained as a direct or indirect result of an entrant entering or participating in this Competition or winning or failing to win a prize, or using or permitting any other person to use the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law or which would cause any part of this clause to be void or unenforceable. 
  9. To the full extent permitted by law, by entering this Competition, the entrant agrees that Engineers Australia will not be liable for any injury, damages, expenses, or loss whatsoever (whether direct or indirect) to persons or property as a result of any person entering into the Competition or accepting or using any prize, including without limitation non-receipt of any prize or damage to any prize in transit.  This release extends to any injury, damage, expenses or loss whatsoever (whether direct or indirect) to persons or property arising from the Competition being run on any form of social media including, but not limited to Facebook. 
  10. Without limiting any of the foregoing, in no circumstances will an entrant or Engineers Australia have any liability to the other for any loss or damage suffered which is indirect or consequential in nature, including without limitation any loss of profit, loss of reputation, loss of goodwill, or loss of business opportunity. 
  11. This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, any social media network. 
The Competition and these Terms and Conditioners will be governed by the laws of the States and Territories of Australia. Entrants accept the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts and tribunals of the States and Territories of Australia in connection with disputes arising out of, or in relation to, the Competition.
